Step 1: Prepare the Oven

- While the tart bakes, combine the cream, sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan.
- Heat gently until the sugar dissolves.
- Pour the warm syrup over the hot tart immediately after baking.
- Allow it to soak in for several minutes before serving. The syrup-soaked finish is a hallmark of many South African apple tart recipes.
