Step 1: Melt the butter
- I start by melting butter in a pan over medium heat. Once it melts, I add garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 2: Add flour
- Next, I add flour and whisk continuously for about 1–2 minutes. This helps create a smooth base (called roux).

Step 3: Add milk
- Now slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens.

Step 4: Add cheese
- I then add grated Parmesan cheese and stir until it melts completely into the sauce.

Step 5: Season it
- Finally, I add salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Give it a taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Notes
You can also pour it over baked potatoes or use it as a dip. It’s super versatile and works with many dishes.
